Don’t get me wrong, I love the cute mug that says Jesus + Coffee…or the tank that says Jesus + Tacos. Gimme all the tacos and all the coffee, y’all. But today I started thinking. It’s really not Jesus PLUS anything. We can’t add to Him. We can’t take away from Him. We surely can’t divide or split his power. But what we can do is this. We can multiply Him.

In fact, we are called to do that very thing. JESUS X US. Jesus, said very clearly in John 14:12-14 “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do EVEN GREATER things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”

This is how God works here. Jesus multiplied by us. Jesus’ death, resurrection, and ascension back into heaven allowed us to receive his holy spirit WITHIN in us. When he left this earth in bodily form, he reentered it within us.

We are called to go and do greater things than he did here, not because we are greater but because through his spirit within us we can multiply his love here on earth.

Our identity is this: so loved by our creator that he gave us the power of a resurrected Christ within us…a power that can literally transform the world. And together, we are even more powerful in Christ.
